POSITION SUMMARY
Glass Roots Construction (GRC) was founded by a team of career telecom and construction professionals and looks to leverage the latest technologies, best in industry equipment, construction and safety practices to build a first-class fiber optic utility construction firm in multiple markets throughout the US.
The company will initially be focused on construction projects in the Arcata/Redding, CA area, but will expand to work in other geographies over the next 12-24 months.
This position will report to the Market Manager and represents an opportunity to join an awesome team on the ground floor, learn a lot and have a ton of fun as GRC grows!

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage day to day construction activities of a fiber optic utility network.
Work directly with the market manager to ensure safe and quality construction practices are being met by our internal and sub contract crews.
You will be in the field working alongside the crews 75% of your day.
Field verify all construction progress as the work is completed.
Field verification entails using a utility locator to identify depth and offsets of all newly placed conduit, vaults, etc.
Collect pictures, bore logs, and other data from crews to support customer Quality Control requirements.
Learn and apply all quality metrics to ongoing and completed work to ensure that finished construction product meets customer, municipality, and environmental specifications and requirements.
Night work (shifts) on rotation
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Must have at least 3 years’ experience working with and around directional drilling crews in the utility construction industry.
Must have supervisory experience.
Ability to work constructively with Environmental Monitors, DOT/OSHA, Municipalities, and other stakeholders.
Strong understanding of utility construction practices and terminology.
Able to read, interpret and adjust various construction drawings/prints.
Experience with locating systems.
Strong computer skills.
Experience in data management.
Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
The terrain is hilly, winding, and uneven.
