The Construction Project Engineer I plays a pivotal role supporting the construction department in the monitoring, coordination, and execution of construction projects and activities.
You will be working in a team environment.
Your responsibilities will encompass various aspects of K2’s construction projects, keeping the construction team organized, resolving problems and ensuring successful completion of quality projects within the specified budget, timeline, scheduling, and quality standards.
This is not a Registered Engineer position.
*Here is what you will be expected to do:*
* Manage and coordinate project information flow
* Establish and maintain office organization
* Review and track RFIs and submittals at Owner and Contractor level
* Read and understand construction plans and specifications
* Prepare the details of work to be performed
* Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, field crews, and clients
* Ensure all plans, specs, and submittals are accurate with matching information
* Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods
* Assist Construction Managers with change management, issue letters, PCO, COR, and PCCO
* Create and track RFIs, updating plans and details for the field
* Generate detailed and conceptual cost estimates and change orders
* Track all change orders via delay, issue, and change order logs
* Assist Construction Managers with field management
* Update project schedule in conjunction with the Construction Manager and General Contractors
* Monitor General Contractor and Subcontractor performance and verify quality of work
* Perform value engineering and constructability of plans
*Skills and qualifications you will need:*
* Any combination of training, education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
* Applicable internships or field experience preferred
* Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or a Construction Management Certificate from an accredited program preferred
* Computer literate.
Working knowledge to advanced aptitude of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Project, Excel, Word), AutoCAD, CM Software, and Bluebeam; Procore or equivalent experience a plus
* Solid work ethic, strong sense of ownership of your work, and be a team player
* Demonstrate tenacious attention to detail
* Active listener, possess strong communication skills and the ability to present information both orally and in writing to a wide variety of audiences
* Communicate effectively with a culturally and ethnically diverse workforce
* Demonstrate the ability to work independently
* Excellent math, critical thinking, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and sound judgment skills
