This boy is a very sweet dog that loves people.
He isn’t trained, and needs someone who has the time to work with him and help him adjust to being a companion dog rather than an LGD without a job.
He didn’t work out as a livestock guardian unfortunately.
Although he’s not aggressive with livestock, he can be unpredictable with chickens and resources guard around bigger stock.
He is not bonded with livestock in any way and though he loves human attention—doesn’t seem to seek it and is rather independent (which will likely change if he has his person).
It is possible Alder can make a good guard dog with his presence (barking) if he is not directly with the stock.
He is has a lighter build than a CAS, and took more after his Maremma/Pyrenees side.
He is good with electric fences and can be tethered.
Alder gets along with other dogs, although to be safer with intact males, he should be neutered first.
He grew up around children and has been around my toddler son.
I bred this dog and he was returned to me only because of not working out with livestock.
I am looking for a perfect home where he will live his best life and his owners will be happy with him as well.
If for some reason he doesn’t work out, I will gladly take him back without question!

The main things he needs training on are:
-Not pulling on the leash
-Recall
-Not being afraid of riding in the car/getting in the car
-Sitting still in the car
IDEAL HOME:
-Electric or Secure non climb/jump fenced large yard or acreage
-Someone with time to work with Alder
-Someone who wants a pet, protection companion, or a farm dog on plenty of property
-Preferably someone who’s experienced or at least has done research on independent LGD breeds like Pyrenees, Anatolians, Akbash, etc.
I am located in Oregon but will be passing through northern CA in mid February, so can deliver if needed.
