* *Job Title: **Nurse Practitioner* *Department:* Medical Clinic *Work Division/Location:* McCloud *FLSA Status:* Exempt *Classification:* Full-time *Reports To:* Medical Director *Description* *Summary/Objective: *An employee working as Nurse Practitioner with the McCloud Healthcare Clinic, Inc.
practices within the scope of licensure from the State of California, under the supervision of the Clinic Medical Director.
The practitioner assesses the physical and psychosocial status of patients; interprets data and develops, implements and documents therapeutic plans; provides education to patients, their families and others; and supervises personnel and collaborates with provider and other health professionals as needed.
*Essential Functions:* _Provides primary health care to_ the full spectrum of patient ages, including pregnant and postpartum women, newborns, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric.
* Assesses the physical and psychosocial status of patients by means of conducting interviews, assessing health histories, and conducting physical examinations.
* Plans, provides and documents patient care plans.
* Counsels and educates patients, family members or others to attain patients’ optimal health and continuity of care, including preventive measures to avoid illness.
Plans and presents educational materials, including topics of family planning, STDs, AIDS and HIV infection, immunizations, and nutrition.
* Provides prenatal care, family planning services, and screening services.
* Provides well-child exams.
* Orders and performs diagnostic tests and procedures.
* Performs minor medical procedures.
* Prescribes age-specific physical therapy and rehabilitation.
* Prescribes pharmacologic treatments in accordance with state regulations.
* Assures that the plan of care is carried out in a safe environment; assists in supervising and monitoring performance of clinic personnel attending to patient’s care.
* Collaborates with other providers and health professionals as needed to provide care.
* Maintains professional nurse/patient relationships.
* Inventories and orders medications.
* Helps develop work plans and schedules for special clinics and services.
* Assists in orienting and instructing other nursing and paraprofessional personnel.
* Other duties as assigned.
*All Clinic employees are expected to:* * Work as a team player to accomplish the goals of the Clinic.
* Maintain operations by following the Clinic’s policies and procedures, and report perceived need/s for changes.
* Provide the highest level of service to clients.
* Maintain confidentiality by following all applicable HIPAA regulations.
* Respect Clinic equipment used to perform job tasks.
*Supervisory Responsibilities:* This position assists in supervising clinical staff including medical assistants, licensed vocational nurses and registered nurses.
*Work Environment:* This job operates in a professional medical clinic environment with potential exposure to blood and body fluids and other hazardous substances.
This role also routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
*Travel:* No travel is expected for regular job duties.
Travel may occasionally be required for training purposes.
If personal vehicle is used for specified job-related errands or travel to/from training events, mileage will be reimbursed as specified in the Employee Handbook.
*Qualifications* *Education, Experience, Certifications, Licenses and Registrations: * * Required Education: Graduate of a California Board of Registered Nursing accredited school with a Master’s Degree or equivalent.
Completion of Nurse Practitioner Certification Program.
* American Academy of Nurse Practitioners certification required.
* Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration required.
* Two years’ experience in related field preferred.
* Advanced Nurse Practitioner experience preferred.
* Must possess socioeconomic and cultural sensitivity.
*Skills and Competencies:* Requires independent, sometimes interdependent, decision-making and clinical judgment in managing patient care.
Verbal and written communication proficiency, ethical conduct, flexibility, initiative, ability to multi-task, time management, highly organized, detail orientated.
Customer services skills and sensitivity to client needs – the position may involve contact with angry, upset or ill persons.
Remains calm in emergency situations, upholds strict confidentially requirements.
Familiarity with computer processes, including word processing and spreadsheet programs.

The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and use hands and fingers.
Direct patient care may require sitting or standing for long periods, as well as some bending and stooping.
* Ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff in person, by phone and by email.
* Ability to visually interpret printed materials, memos, and other needed paperwork.
* Ability to maneuver immobile patients and to lift and carry children weighing up to 40 pounds.
* Ability to lift or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Job Type: Full-time Pay: $130,000.
00 - $150,000.
