*POSITION SUMMARY*
The Dental Lab Technician works directly with and under general supervision of the Dental Director by fabricating removable prostheses according to dentist prescriptions.
This position will use advanced technical skills to construct sophisticated implant-based dental prosthetics to exacting standards for fit and esthetics and use critical thinking to develop and share complex solutions with the dentist and auxiliary staff.
*ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS* 1.
Replaces partial or total loss of natural teeth by constructing partial or full dentures (metal and non-metal).
2.
Fabricates night guards, sports guards and occlusal splints as prescribed by the dentist.
3.
Constructs prostheses by following the dentist's prescription; making models of the mouth and teeth from impressions of the patient's mouth taken by the dentist; building-up wax replicas of part or all of the mouth and/or teeth on the model; encasing the wax in a mould material and melting away the wax; replacing the wax with plastic, metal, or ceramic materials to make the replacement appliance; polishing and finishing the appliance prior to its being placed in the patient's mouth by the dentist.

Documents actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.

Utilizes and conserves supplies and equipment by completing plaster casting, electro-spot welding, metal casting, metal polishing, wax modeling, ceramics, wire bending, electroplating and sandblasting; using CAD/CAM units; maintaining supplies inventories; keeping equipment operating.

Improves quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; implementing changes.

Maintaining personal protection per OSHA guidelines as it pertains to personal safety, i.
e.
, protective clothing, eyewear, gloves.
8.
Participating in in-service training, department and general staff meetings and clinics.
9.
Training of lab internship program as Dental Directors sees fit.
10.
Work in conjunction with Staff Dentists/Dental team to develop and implement preventive dental activities for the community.
11.
Employee Safety: Safely performs all duties; follows required protective protocols to ensure personal safety as well the safety of others.
12.
Must maintain compliance with ergonomic safety standards; be mindful of posture and regularly practice ergonomic stretches.
13.
Safety: Responsible for ensuring that all duties, responsibilities and operations are performed with the utmost regard for the safety and health of all personnel involved, including themselves.
14.
Safety: Take appropriate corrective actions to address matters pertaining to employee health and safety that have been brought to their attention.
15.
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
*MINIMUM QUALIFIICATIONS * * Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
* Must have a current BLS CPR Certification.
* Must have a Valid California driver’s license and proof of personal liability automobile insurance as required by California state law.
* Five years of hands-on technical experience working in a dental laboratory.
* Proficient in full arch hybrid restorations, complete dentures, overdentures and implant based restorative techniques and have strong knowledge of dental science and anatomy and esthetics.
*PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS* 1.
A valid State of California Dental X-ray license.
*BACKGROUND CHECK REQUIREMENTS* Pre-employment Drug Testing and a Department of Justice Fingerprinting clearance through Federal, State and Child Abuse Index is a contingency for an offer of employment.
Criminal clearances are obtained to protect the welfare and safety of clients receiving services at Rolling Hills Clinic.
*VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS* A pre-employment Physical exam is required upon hire.
You will be required to provide vaccination records to show proof of immunity for TB or PPD, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, TDAP & Hep B.
If the records are more than 10 years old, titers are required to confirm immunity.

The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
Will work with blood-borne pathogens and will require OSHA training.
This job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, and fax machines.
