The Area Coordinator will provide relational and administrative support within residence halls to develop a Christ centered living, learning environment.
This is a twelve-month live-in position.
The Area Coordinator will offer academic, spiritual, personal, and practical care to students.
They are responsible for the supervision of the Resident Assistant staff team, living area and campus-wide programming, administrative tasks, student care, retention, and crisis response.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Student Affairs or related field is preferred.
Demonstrates an active faith development, intentionally growing in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
Demonstrated awareness and commitment to effectively establishing relationships and positive communications across multiple dimensions of diversity including race, gender, physical limitations, class, or religious beliefs.
Management experience in student affairs or related field preferred.
Commitment to the holistic development of students as a vocational calling.
Effective communication and relational skills.
A strong willingness and ability to act as part of a team.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.
g.
, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher, etc.
) and experience in or willingness and aptitude to learn, integrated institutional database software.
Must be able to properly use tact, diplomacy, discretion, and sound judgment.
Willingness to demonstrate commitment to the profession, the ability to learn and be coachable.

Provides leadership, supervision, encouragement, and accountability for a team of Resident Assistants.
Assists in the Campus Life student leadership selection process and the evaluating, training, and development of an RA team.
Collaborates with the Student Development staff in communicating and enforcing the student handbook and residence life policies; responds to student conduct reports as Facilitates living area programming that seeks to cultivate intentional community within the residence halls and inclusive engagement across campus.
Assists with crisis management, conflict resolution, and mediation for students; arranges to participate in the on-call rotation and share holiday responsibilities, responding to emergency situations as they arise.
Facilitates residential oversight in their living areas, including hall operations, check- in/out procedures, and Health and Safety checks.
Utilizes housing software to aid with housing processes, and stewardship Communicates effectively and courteously with others including students, administration, employees, parents, guests, and the public in a spirit of respect, teamwork, and customer service.
Is intentionally visible and available on campus; keeps posted office hours (10 per week).
Attends chapel regularly and engages in student spiritual Participates as an active member of the Campus Life Staff Team, one on one meeting with direct supervisor, and other training sessions/ retreats.
Engages in working relationships with the greater Student Development staff and treats other Simpson staff members with courtesy, respect, and consideration.
Participates in Campus Life department huddles (RA Seminar, CAB Collaborative, Spiritual Formation Session) and Campus Life Student Leadership trainings.
