This year-long, remote internship is part of the College of the Siskiyous Faculty Diversity Internship Program which aims to increase the diversity of the Siskiyous faculty and enrich and improve our students experience.
It is also an excellent way for aspiring teaching college faculty members to gain training and experience in online teaching.
Interns will meet regularly with a Siskiyous Faculty Mentor in Computer Science throughout the 23-24 academic year.
In the summer and fall of 2023, they will receive approximately 80 hours of online teaching training.
In the spring of 2024, they will get hands-on experience in their mentor’s online class class (this could involve developing assignments or online learning units, participating in class discussions, organizing and attending student study groups or tutoring sessions, grading, etc.
), attend a workshop, and complete and present an online teaching portfolio.
All program requirements can be fulfilled remotely.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must:
Have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Be an enrolled graduate student who has completed at least 20% of a Master's or Doctoral degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
OR Bachelor’s in either of the above AND at least 20% of a Master’s of Doctoral degree in mathematics, cybernetics, business administration, accounting or engineering
OR Bachelor’s in engineering AND at least 20% of a Master’s or Doctoral degree in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration
OR Bachelor’s in mathematics AND at least 20% of a Master’s or Doctoral degree in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration
OR Bachelor’s degree in any of the above AND at least 20% of a Master’s or Doctoral degree in information science, computer information systems, or information systems
